People are more friendly here...
Mr C
An Interview with Mr C
Interviewed by Sharon
Mr C is a familiar figure in Lancaster town centre. He is 70 years old and he has been homeless for many years.
I've been here about 13 years now and I've been away for 3 years to Manchester ... I am staying with friends on a temporary basis but I am pensioner now, you know, and unfortunately I am waiting to find a place. I'm out at the moment but I have one or two friends that put me up for a night you know so actually I'm not badly done to, you know...but its not easy to find a place...Well I've had places in Morecambe, you know, but its communal living and its difficult because you've a problem with people, people who drink, or ... you have that problem to over come. But you've got to accept it, especially if you have no home of your own, you have to accept these kind of things.
People, I find, are more friendly here than anywhere else. I go to Ulverston, I go to Grange and I go to Manchester and Preston for a day out and there are very few people who are sociable. You know, they can't be bothered, they are in a hurry, but here many people stop and talk to me, it's a very friendly place.. many thousands of people I know here ... as they pass they all know me like as Chris and that's a bit o' happiness in your way of life ...oh I meet many people they all know me like ... well I am a bit of a curiosity person like, I am unusual to many people like and they accept this ...I am 70, I was 70 in January.
